Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Programme

Menstruation has frequently been a taboo subject for many women and girls in the communities we support, wrapped in stigma, shame, and misinformation. At CEHRO India, we see this silence as a major obstacle to equality, education, and self-worth rather than as a cultural norm. Through our ongoing efforts, we not only raise awareness but also make menstrual hygiene accessible for women and girls from underprivileged backgrounds, especially those for whom basic hygiene products are often unaffordable or out of reach. By bridging both knowledge and access, we ensure that awareness translates into dignity and lasting change.

Our Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Program was founded on a simple yet powerful belief that women and girls can stand taller in the workplace, in the classroom, and in life when they have access to basic hygiene resources and an understanding of their bodies.

Reaching thousands of women and adolescent girls annually throughout the underprivileged areas of South-West Delhi, such as Munirka Village, Inder Camp, Shankar Camp, Nepali Camp, and Mahipalpur, this program is one of CEHRO's most enduring and community-focused initiatives.

For us, menstrual hygiene is a continuous movement woven into CEHRO’s broader mission of women’s empowerment, health, and education. We strive to normalize conversations, dispel myths, and help communities recognize menstruation as a sign of health and strength, not shame. Each session becomes a safe, inclusive space for open dialogue, empathy, and peer learning, where women and girls not only learn safe menstrual management practices through interactive discussions and demonstrations but also understand the deeper importance of dignity and self-respect.

What We Do

Safe Spaces & Awareness Workshops

CEHRO’s education and community centers host over 200 menstrual hygiene workshops, blending learning, conversation, and empathy. In these interactive sessions, participants explore topics such as menstrual biology, hygiene practices, nutrition, safe disposal methods, and the importance of breaking taboos. Each workshop becomes a safe haven where girls can share their stories, mothers can guide, and entire communities can come together to learn and uplift one another.

Access and Affordability

Women from our Sui Dhaga initiative are trained as peer educators, combining income generation with awareness promotion. These women conduct sessions, make home visits, and inspire others through their personal stories of change.

Health Partnerships & Assistance doctor no lenskart

We weave menstrual health sessions into our broader community health camps, creating a space where reproductive education, adolescent wellness, and general health awareness come together seamlessly. Qualified doctors and healthcare professionals carry out check-ups, address concerns, and offer reliable medical guidance, ensuring that every session blends awareness with expert care.

Safe Disposal & Sustainability

We promote eco-conscious menstrual management by teaching safe disposal techniques and introducing sustainable alternatives such as reusable cloth pads and menstrual cups, helping communities care for both people and the planet.

At CEHRO, menstrual hygiene is not just a health issue, it’s about human rights, dignity, and opportunity. Our goal is clear: no woman or girl should be left behind because of stigma, lack of access, or misinformation.

Together with our communities and partners, we’re building a future where every girl can manage her period with comfort, confidence, and pride. Each conversation brings us closer to equality, and every act of compassion turns awareness into empowerment.
